Go out together.Turn citiesand wild placesinto your game board.

In one game, people who barely know each other finish a story together. Trails, old streets, parks and campuses become stops; at the end, photos, the ranking and a report land in your hands automatically.

  • Download the app and scan your team's QR code
  • Flash challenges, hidden stops and a live ranking to the last minute
  • Leave with a highlight reel, team photos and a report

For companies, schools and every kind of group. Not into competition? Keep the ranking hidden until the awards.

Touch grass. The phone is just the map.

Questory runs on phones without making everyone stare at them. The phone shows the way and the challenge; the real show is your team, the wind, the grass and the shops along the way.

  1. Fun

Flash challenges, hidden stops, hints you pay for in points. Simple rules, five minutes to learn, and the laughs take care of themselves.

  2. Adventure

Where's the next stop? Who will come back from behind? Every team walks away with a different story.

  3. Nature

Trails, grassland, riverbanks, old streets. Move team building out of the meeting room and into the sun.

One game, four rounds

Lay out the stops in the dashboard once. Players and the system take it from there.

  1. Form teams

Each team gets a QR code. Scan it in the Questory app, pick a nickname and you're in; teammates who haven't installed the app can join in the browser.

  2. Head out

Photos, videos, clues, check-ins and on-site QR codes. Flash challenges and hidden stops pop up, so trailing teams can still come back.

  3. Score

Photos reach the review desk and staff approve them in one tap. Scores go live on the big screen, and you can hide the ranking for the final 15 minutes.

  4. Awards

Scores settle when time is up. The ranking, a photo wall, an automatically cut highlight reel and the report are ready on the spot.

How the data moves

Every screen syncs about every 5 seconds; with a weak signal, answers wait on the phone.

  1. Players' phones

    Photos, answers, check-ins

  2. Cloud

    Scoring, storage, encryption

  3. Review desk

What the app looks like

The Questory app is each player's map, challenge card and scorekeeper. Every screen is built for the outdoors: big type and big buttons you can read in full sun.

  1. Challenge board: countdown, rank, next stop and the stamp card

    Challenge board

The next stop, the stamp card and team progress at a glance.

  2. Challenge card: red-brick shophouse photo with criteria and a camera button

    Challenge card

Photos, quizzes and check-ins, with the judging criteria spelled out.

  3. Map: the Dadaocheng route, completed stops and your location

    Map

The route, the stops and where you are; check in when you arrive.

  4. Completion: a Dadaocheng pier stamp, plus 120 points, up to first place

    Stamp moment

Every stop earns a stamp, and the ranking updates on the spot.

The iOS and Android apps are coming soon; until then, teammates can join the same team in their phone's browser.

Draw a challenge card

Every card is a real challenge from our templates. Draw one and picture your team pulling it off.

The scoreboard

Project it in the venue: the ranking, the photo wall and announcements update live. Hide the ranking for the last 15 minutes and reveal it at the awards.

  • The ranking refreshes every 5 seconds
  • The photo wall only shows photos the whole team agreed to share
  • The host can post announcements and release flash challenges at any time

Pick a map

Four ready-made maps, each a complete template. Pick one, then swap in your own places and questions.

Who plays

Company team building

Team days, onboarding, company trips and year-end parties. Mix departments into teams so people who rarely meet get things done together.

  • International colleagues welcome: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean
  • Agencies run many events from one dashboard in each client's colours
  • A report is ready at the end, no write-up afterwards

Schools

Graduation trips, field trips, orientation and club camps. Turn geography and history lessons into stops you can walk to and photograph.

  • Teachers see every team live from the review desk
  • Questions can follow the curriculum
  • The school decides how long photos are kept

Every kind of group

Clubs, associations, churches, family groups and charity days. If a group of people wants to head out together, it can be a game.

  • From a dozen to several hundred players
  • Partner shops redeem rewards with a PIN, supporting local business
  • The photo wall needs the whole team's consent

Game mechanics

Flash challenges

The host releases a timed challenge at any moment; it only counts if you finish within ten minutes. The whole field starts running.

Hidden stops

Stops that appear only after a certain challenge, a surprise for the teams that go furthest.

Hints for points

Stuck? Buy a hint with points. Pride or points: the team decides.

Live big-screen ranking

Refreshes every 5 seconds; hide it for the last 15 minutes and reveal it at the awards.

Works without signal

On a mountain with no reception, answers wait on the phone and send when the connection returns.

Highlight reel and report

The ranking, a photo wall, an automatically cut highlight reel and a report link the moment it ends, with every photo in one download.

Safety rules

Safe outdoors, safe with your data. This is how Questory actually runs.

Safety notes at every stop

Templates come with notes for each stop, like "stay 10 metres from the buffalo" or "stone steps are slippery in fog", for staff to brief before setting off.

Time's up means regroup

Every game has a clear end time; scores settle automatically, so everyone knows when to head back.

Hosted on AWS in Tokyo

The site, database and photos run in Amazon Web Services' Tokyo region, with HTTPS on every connection.

Private, encrypted photos

Photos sit in non-public storage, encrypted with a dedicated key, and are shown to your staff only through short-lived links.

Continuous backups

A full database backup runs every day and every change in between is copied to separate storage.

Accounts and data kept apart

Each organiser's data is separated in the database; dashboard sign-in needs two-step verification. Photos are deleted on schedule and players only give a nickname.

Join the first expedition

We're looking for the first companies, schools and groups to head out with us. For a pilot we plan the route and challenges with you, can be on site on the day, and review the results together afterwards. Places are limited; ask us about terms.

  • Route and challenges planned with you
  • On-site support on the day
  • A results review after the event

Before you set off

Do players have to download the app?

We recommend the Questory app (iOS and Android, coming soon) for the full map, photo upload and notification experience. Teammates who haven't installed it can join the same team in their browser or inside LINE.

Which languages can players use?

The game screens and the app are available in Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean, so international colleagues can play in their own language. Challenges can be written in more than one language too.

What if it rains?

Two options: switch to an indoor map (ballroom, auditorium or gym), or postpone the same map. Stops can be changed in the dashboard at any time.

Can people who aren't very fit play?

Yes. Every map shows how tiring it is, and you can pick short routes built around clues and photos. Teams split the work anyway.

What if some people don't like competing?

Keep the ranking hidden until the awards, and lean on photo, teamwork and story challenges rather than timed races. The point is finishing together, not picking a winner.

How many people can play?

Anything from a dozen to several hundred. You set the number of players and teams in the dashboard.

Do we need a host or staff?

You can run it yourselves: set up the challenges and have one person review on the day. Or we can design the course and send staff.

How much does it cost?

It depends on headcount, number of events and whether you want on-site service. Tell us about your event when you book a demo and we'll send a proposal.

Book a demo

Leave your details and the size of your event. We'll reply within two business days to set up a 30-minute online demo.
